      We are looking for an efficient Assistant Project Manager to support the planning and coordination of Public Project execution. The Assistant Project Manager's responsibilities include monitoring project progress, following up with stakeholders on the completion or delay of project phases, scheduling meetings, and maintaining project documents and reports.

      To be successful as an assistant project manager you should be able to perform any tasks assigned by the project manager in an efficient and timely manner. An outstanding assistant project manager should be able to maintain oversight of all project activities, identify and communicate any issues, and ensure prompt resolution.

      Assistant Project Manager Responsibilities:

      • Performance of routine administrative tasks such as filing, archival of project milestone documents/exhibits/emails, engineering file version control, internal tracker updates, meeting scheduling, etc. as directed by the Short-line Manager/Director
      • Communication with stakeholders to coordinate project priorities, goals and milestones.
      • Public Records/Database research as required.
      • Preparation of invoices, estimates and assembly of applicable backup documentation.
      • Monitor project budgets and suitability of hours allocations.
      • Assist with project correspondence relating to change order requests/justification, budget updates, and project creation.
      • Generally, assist (as-needed) with travel to the customer site or field site to perform preliminary or post project activities, such as support DTR, site surveys, inspections, etc.

      Desired Skills and Experience:

      • High School diploma/GED required
      • 1-3 years previous experience in Project management or similar role.
      • Previous experience in working with railroads, especially short line railroads a plus.
      • Familiarity/Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and project management software.
      • Highly organized and able to multitask with the ability to shift priorities in a dynamic environment.
      • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
      • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
      • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
